AUTOFLUG becomes latest partner to help develop Volocopter’s VoloCity eVTOL
AUTOFLUG has joined forces with eVTOL manufacturer Volocopter to build and develop the passengers seats for its VoloCity eVTOL aircraft.
This latest announcement comes after Diehl Aerospace said earlier this month that it would also be partnering with Volocopter to produce the flight control computers.
Jan-Hendrik Boelens, CTO of Volocopter, said: “In the eVTOL sector, we have to pay even more attention to weight and comfort than is already the case in aviation. In AUTOFLUG, we have gained an experienced partner who understands the requirements of this new market and is prepared to tread new paths together.”

As well as designing the seats for the VoloCity, the contract with AUTOFLUG also includes the joint development of a wall connection for the seats to make optimum use of the available space in the cabin.
“We are extremely delighted that we can actively enrich this pioneering concept with our seats,” adds Martin Kroell, Managing Partner at AUTOFLUG.
“The strength of the product design, but also the innovative spirit of both companies, are a good basis for the collaboration, with this initial contract hopefully just being the start.”
In 2011, Volocopter performed the first-ever manned flight of a purely electric multicopter and has since showcased numerous public flights with its full-scale aircraft.
The most notable have been the public test flights at Singapore’s Marina Bay in October 2019 and the world’s first autonomous eVTOL flight in Dubai 2017. Volocopter is also developing products for the logistics and precision agriculture space with their VoloDrone.
