EHang completes the first trial flights of its 216 AAV in Beijing

EHang has successfully completed the first trial flights of its flagship two-seater 216 aerial autonomous vehicles (AAV) in Beijing, China.

The flights represents the first time a passenger-grade AAV has flown over the country’s capital city, which is a highly regulated airspace. Two units completed a total of five unmanned trial flights over the frozen Yanqi Lake, with air temperature reaching ‑14 degrees Celsius.

Throughout its testing schedule, EHang has conducted successful flights in extreme conditions such as hot deserts, heavy fog and typhoons. In a press release, it says it has completed more than 10,000 trial flights across 42 cities in eight countries.
