Orca Aerospace and UAVOS confirmed as speakers at eVTOL Insights’ ‘Final Friday’ virtual networking event on February 25th

eVTOL Insights’ next virtual networking event, held on the final Friday of the month, will be held on February 25th with industry presentations from eVTOL aircraft developer Orca Aerospace and UAVOS.

The 90-minute session will be from 4pm‑5.30pm GMT and starts with 30 minutes of networking before the two 15-minute presentations, and a final 30 minutes of networking to finish.

Representing Orca will be co-founder and CEO Soma Varga. The company’s goal is to save more lives with the help of cutting-edge aviation technology. It says it can provide a safe, fast and efficient alternative for today’s HEMS operations, with the Orca combining the advantages of helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft.

Soma will talk about the company’s background, which began in November 2020 after he led the team’s conceptual design to third place in the International General Aviation Aircraft Design Competition by the Royal Aeronautical Society. His main role next to general aeronautical engineering topics are fundraising and company development.

Before Orca, Soma studied vehicle engineering at the Technical University of Budapest-Hungary and received his aerospace engineering MSc at the Technical University in Munich.

During his studies, he worked for Airbus, RUAG and Bauhaus Lufthfahrt and was also selected to be among 50 international students invited to the BUAA University in Beijing for a graduate summer school regarding aircraft design. Still during his studies in Munich, he was part of a team of three engineers that won the 2017 NASA/ DLR subsonic aircraft design challenge with a hybrid propulsion airliner concept.

As a master thesis, he developed a preliminary design tool dedicated to fighter aircraft and gained hands-on manufacturing experiences at a small LSA composite aircraft manufacturer. Soma also holds a PPL licence for single piston engine aircraft.

UAVOS Inc. is a developer and manufacturer of security and commercial solutions based on advanced Unmanned Systems with an international investor base. It specialises in complex payload integrations and in conversions of full — sized manned aircraft to UAV.

We’ll be speaking to Vadim Tarasov, who is Chairman of the Board at UAVOS. He is the founding partner of Advanced Autonomous Solutions Fund, a fund investing in unmanned solutions globally, featuring some unique tech companies such as UAVOS with its unique HAPS APUS Duo solution or Global Energy Transfer offering unique in-flight wireless drone charging.

He is also a managing director at Pine Peak Capital Group, a Hong Kong based asset management company, focusing on late stage investments in tech and infrastructure.

Registration is now open and completely free to attend. After the event, all attendees will receive a PDF document with contact details and a video recording of both presentations.

If you would be interested in presenting at a future event, please email editor Jason Pritchard at editorial@evtolinsights.com.

From L‑R: Vadim Tarasov, Chairman of the Board at UAVOS, and Soma Varga, CEO of Orca Aerospace.
