EHang receives biggest pre-order for its EH216 eVTOL aircraft from AEROTREE, with partnership to co-develop UAM services in Malaysia

EHang has confirmed the largest pre-order for its series of EH216 eVTOL aircraft, after announcing a strategic partnership with AEROTREE, a subsidiary of Malaysia’s leading aviation company AEROTREE Group.

The order comprises 50 units, which includes the standard, logistics and firefighting models of the EH216, as well as 10 units of the EHang’s long-range, passenger-grade aircraft, the VT-30. Before this agreement, AEROTREE has purchased one unit of the EH216‑S AAV from EHang.

As part of the agreement, both companies will also work on developing urban air mobility services in Malaysia, which includes Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and training.

Dato’ Halim Bin Othman, Managing Director of AEROTREE Group, said: “We are very excited about our strategic partnership with EHang to introduce the world’s leading safe, sustainable and autonomous aerial vehicles to the Malaysian market.

“Leveraging our full spectrum of capabilities and partnerships that span from MRO to training, we eagerly anticipate using EHang AAVs for Malaysia’s UAM projects and civil aviation.”

Last month, EHang confirmed the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) formally adopted the Special Conditions for EH216-SAAV Type Certification, which was effective on February 9th.

The Special Conditions provides EHang with the basis for compliance and safety of EH216‑S AAVs, including flight performance, structures, design and constructions, propulsion systems, systems and equipment, data link and ground control station.

As well as Malaysia, EHang has received pre-orders from AirX in Japan to support UAM projects across the country, which was also the first to place an order for EHang’s VT-30 aircraft.

Huazhi Hu, Founder, Chairman and CEO of EHang, said: “We are pleased to enter the Malaysian market and increase our presence there through our cooperation with AEROTREE. Our comprehensive AAV products and solutions are well suited to a variety of intracity and intercity UAM use cases in Malaysia, such as passenger transportation, aerial sightseeing, aerial firefighting and aerial logistics.

“The rising demand and pre-orders for a large number of our passenger-grade AAVs from Japan and Malaysia will unleash great market potential for EHang in Asia.”

AEROTREE is regarded as a specialist in the field of Aerospace and Aviation Special Training, Technology Development Aerospace, MRO and other development and related services. The company has an Air Service Permit license issued by the Malaysian Aviation Commission to enable the flight of aircraft to be performed in Malaysian airspace. AEROTREE is also an Authorised Maintenance Organisation approved by the Malaysian State Technical Airworthiness Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia.
