Two weeks to go until Ohio’s upcoming Air Mobility Symposium, which will explore four key topics with industry experts
Regarded by many in the industry to be a US state playing its part in the emerging Advanced Air Mobility market, Ohio will host its second annual Air Mobility Symposium from April 7th to 8th.
Taking place at Ohio State University in Colombus, the event will address the question: ‘What does Advanced Air Mobility mean for the State of Ohio? Sessions will explore the birthplace of aviation as a hub for research, testing, and manufacturing, in addition to proactively shaping policy and infrastructure planning to integrate air mobility into Ohio communities safely and equitably.
Four discussions will cover airspace integration, supply-chain, novel vehicle certification, and community integration, with interwoven networking. Confirmed panelists include individuals from NASA, Electra Aero, Thales, Crown Consulting, Vertical Flight Society and the Community Air Mobility Initiative (CAMI).
The two-day in-person event will feature:
- A trip to the Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport and Ohio State Research Centers to showcase flight simulators, vehicle viewings, and tours of the facilities

In June 2021, eVTOL Insights revealed how the state of Ohio can expect more than $13 billion in economic activity over the next 25 years if it takes targeted steps to support the growth of an advanced autonomous aircraft sector, according to a new report by Crown Consulting.
Dr Rubén Del Rosario, Crown Senior Director of Aerospace Systems, reported the findings of a new study during a public briefing hosted by the Ohio Department of Transportation, which commissioned the study and recommended steps Ohio can take to capitalise on this emerging market.
Del Rosario said: “The State of Ohio faces both opportunities and challenges with its transportation systems. As the seventh most populous state in the country and centrally located, Ohio has one of the largest highway networks in the country.”
The 2020 Ohio Symposium drew more than 200 attendees and featured panellists from NASA, Honeywell, Sikorsky, UPS Flight Forward, Elroy Air, Uber Elevate, Vertical Flight Society, Columbus Regional Airport Authority, and Air Force Research Laboratories (AFRL).
