Lilium Sign Agreement with GKN Aerospace for Jet’s “EWIS”
Lilium has signed an agreement with UK-based GKN Aerospace to collaborate on the design and build of an integrated and certifiable Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS), reports a press release.
From a facility in the Netherlands, GKN is to construct the EWIS hardware sets and support Lilium with on-site installation into the Jet at the company’s assembly line at Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. GKN has a significant track record in the design and build of certifiable EWIS solutions.
The release states, “The scope of the collaboration covers the integrated design of the low voltage and high voltage electrical interconnections of the Lilium Jet.”
This includes:-
: Integration of all wire bundles in the Lilium Jet.
: Integration of the electrical EWIS components into operational systems to safely fly the Jet.
: Development of innovative high voltage, high power interconnection solutions.

Lilium already has various agreements in place including for aerostructures, avionics, battery cells, energy management systems, e‑motors, propulsion system, aircraft interior and landing gear. While, GKN is already making significant investments in sustainable aviation, which includes full electric, hybrid-electric, and hydrogen-powered aircraft technology.
