Volatus Infrastructure announces three members of future leadership team

Ear­li­er this week, at EAA’s 70th Air­Ven­ture, Vola­tus Infra­struc­ture announced the three mem­bers of its future lead­er­ship team. Dan Sloat will take on the role of CEO work­ing side by side with co-founder Grant Fisk.

Bob John­son will be chief com­mer­cial offi­cer (CCO), head­ing Vola­tus’ glob­al busi­ness devel­op­ment teams and fos­ter­ing new rela­tion­ships. Nico­las Zart will take con­trol as chief strat­e­gy offi­cer (CSO), work­ing with Sloat to cham­pi­on the eVTOL indus­try.

Fisk said: “It has been my plea­sure to author the begin­ning of almost three years of Vola­tus Infra­struc­ture. The next chap­ter is being writ­ten today by bring­ing togeth­er some of the bright­est minds in the AAM indus­try.

“The impact Dan, Nico­las and Bob have already had on the AAM indus­try is immea­sur­able and I could not be more hon­oured that they now play lead­ing roles in the Vola­tus sto­ry.”

Dan Sloat, MBA, is a for­mer Unit­ed States Air Force Cap­tain who earned a Human­i­tar­i­an Ser­vice Medal for his efforts to aid Syr­i­an refugees dur­ing Oper­a­tion Inher­ent Resolve in the fight against ISIS. He is a UAS Traf­fic Man­age­ment expert with direct oper­a­tional expe­ri­ence orches­trat­ing the safe and effi­cient nav­i­ga­tion of 13,000 drones.

He is also Founder of the Advanced Air Mobil­i­ty Insti­tute, an inter­na­tion­al non-prof­it organ­i­sa­tion to edu­cate and advo­cate for the broad­est pub­lic ben­e­fit through the AAM ecosys­tem.

Bob John­son is an ear­ly adopter of unmanned aer­i­al sys­tems (UAS) tech­nol­o­gy with senior exec­u­tive busi­ness devel­op­ment exper­tise for both start­up and cor­po­rate com­pa­nies in avi­a­tion, robot­ics, tele­com, trans­porta­tion, ener­gy and soft­ware tech­nolo­gies. He is a found­ing mem­ber of the UAS Work­ing Group at Geor­gia Tech and a mem­ber of the Geor­gia Depart­ment of Trans­porta­tion AAM Work­ing Group.

Nico­las Zart is the for­mer Direc­tor of Strate­gic Devel­op­ment for the Ver­ti­cal Flight Soci­ety and has cov­ered the elec­tric mobil­i­ty indus­try as a jour­nal­ist for the last 15 years.

He focussed on all aspects of the elec­tric dri­ve after dri­ving an AC Propul­sion eBox and one of the first Tes­la Road­sters. He has been a con­tribut­ing author at Ver­ti­flite mag­a­zine since 2017 and con­sult­ed in com­mu­ni­ca­tions with elec­tric vehi­cles and AAM star­tups, rekin­dling his pio­neer­ing sense.

Two weeks ago, Vola­tus Infra­struc­ture signed a let­ter of intent with Green­port Inter­na­tion­al Air­port and Tech­nol­o­gy Cen­tre to build an eVTOL ver­ti­port as part of planned 5,426-acre phase one devel­op­ment plans. The ver­ti­port will include Vola­tus’ mod­u­lar­ly designed ter­mi­nal build­ing and land­ing pad with its vehi­cle-agnos­tic charg­ing sta­tion for the ver­ti­port to open in ear­ly 2024.
