DUBAI AIRSHOW 2023: “AutoFlight Unveils AAM Firefighting Program, Debuts Fully Functional Prototype” (Watch Video)

China-based AutoFlight, is following “the Airsteps of EHang,” by unveiling at the Dubai Airshow, an exciting and innovative eVTOL program to help firefighters extinguish dangerous fires, reports a press release.

The fully functional unmanned autonomous aircraft prototype (please watch video), has a maximum takeoff weight of two metric tons and is designed to lift up to four fire-extinguishing canisters, each weighing 100kg, or a 400kg payload, covering a distance of up to 200km, while reaching speeds in excess of 200km/h. This equates to a single payload, collectively extinguishing major fires, spanning up to 800 sq/m.

The firefighting model is based on the CarryAll, AutoFlight’s cargo eVTOL, for which the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) certification is expected by early next year.

Kellen Xie, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Business Development at AutoFlight, commented,“Compared to existing fire-fighting Unmanned Aerial Vehicles available in the market, AutoFlight’s prototype has achieved significant breakthroughs in terms of load capacity, flight duration, coverage, flight efficiency and firefighting effectiveness.”

He continued, “The initial demonstrations with potential customers has received very encouraging feedback. We will now enter discussions with clients and development partners to evolve the prototype into product, including ground station and supporting systems.”
