Italy: UrbanV Collaborates with ITA Airways, Airbus and Enel to Develop AAM in Italy

Ver­ti­port net­work oper­a­tor, UrbanV, is col­lab­o­rat­ing with ITA Air­ways, Air­bus and Enel to pro­mote and devel­op an Advanced Air Mobil­i­ty (AAM) ecosys­tem in Italy, reports a press release. The part­ner­ship aims to pro­mote this new green avi­a­tion rev­o­lu­tion with the com­mit­ment and coop­er­a­tion of nation­al mobil­i­ty stake­hold­ers. 

The col­lab­o­ra­tion expands on an ini­tial Mem­o­ran­dum of Under­stand­ing (MOU) between ITA Air­ways and Air­bus, signed in April 2022, and now includes UrbanV and solu­tions provider, Enel.

The expand­ed MOU is to con­cen­trate on estab­lish­ing a joint roadmap for the devel­op­ment of an AAM ecosys­tem in Italy where the ver­ti­port oper­a­tor, air­line, eVTOL man­u­fac­tur­er and ener­gy solu­tion provider, are to work togeth­er to eval­u­ate var­i­ous busi­ness mod­els in coop­er­a­tion with Ital­ian stake­hold­ers.

The part­ners will focus par­tic­u­lar­ly on how to oper­ate the Air­bus eVTOL CityAir­bus NextGen; along­side ver­ti­ports and their net­work plan­ning; as well as defin­ing pas­sen­ger expe­ri­ence mod­els and suit­able routes.

Balk­iz Sar­i­han, Head of UAM at Air­bus, added, “We have some expe­ri­ence in devel­op­ing AAM ecosys­tems such as the Air Mobil­i­ty Ini­tia­tive (AMI) in Bavaria and are thrilled by this oppor­tu­ni­ty to work on the devel­op­ment of such an ecosys­tem in Italy.”
