Watch Video: Doroni launches “New Buy’n’ Fly Two-Seat H1X Personal eVTOL” for Delivery in 2025

Florida-based Doroni has launched a new two-seat H1X fan-in-wing eVTOL, a development of its of H1 prototype, reports a press release.

As with the previous H1, the new design uses coaxial fans positioned in ducts along the wings. This time, the fans are out wider, which offers the vehicle a little extra wing surface, especially at the rear. Ducted fans, as opposed to open props on some of its competitor vehicles, should decrease noise levels.

It is a little lighter too at 1,350 lbs, yet capable of carrying the same 500 lbs of payload between the pilot and passenger seats as well as luggage.

The vehicle operates via one joystick and includes a push-button take-off and landing; intelligent autonomous navigation; and advanced anti-collision sensors. It boasts a top speed of 120 mph and a 60-mile range or 45-minute flight time. Charging should not take more than 25 minutes. The vehicle can be stored in a regular-sized garage.

Doron Merdinger, Doroni Founder and CEO, explained, “It’s a simple joystick going forward, backwards, left, right, up and down. Similar to a three-dimensional elevator.”

Design features also include a tandem wing configuration to enhance lift and efficiency; eight vertical electric powered motors; and a ballistic parachute. It is expected for Doroni to sell it as a Light Sport Aircraft, which will require pilots to carry out just 20 hours of training.

The company says the H1X will undergo full-scale prototype flight testing by the end of the year. The aircraft will start rolling out in 2025 if all goes to plan, with mass manufacturing slated for 2026. The current estimated cost is between USD300,000 and USD400,000.

Doroni was founded seven years ago and last year received a FAA Special Airworthiness Certification.
