magniX Appoints Reed Macdonald as Chief Executive Officer

mag­niX, “the com­pa­ny pow­er­ing the elec­tric avi­a­tion rev­o­lu­tion,” announced recent­ly, it has appoint­ed Reed Mac­don­ald as the company’s new CEO, reports a press release. He will lead mag­niX as it pre­pares “rev­o­lu­tion­ary elec­tric pow­er­trains for Entry Into Ser­vice.”   

Mac­don­ald has more than 25 years’ expe­ri­ence in aero­space, finance, defence and man­u­fac­tur­ing, as well as hold­ing sev­er­al board and senior exec­u­tive roles includ­ing as CEO and Board Mem­ber at FDS Avion­ics, a man­u­fac­tur­er of elec­tron­ics equip­ment for the busi­ness avi­a­tion and mil­i­tary mar­kets. He also brings in-depth finan­cial and com­mer­cial expe­ri­ence to the CEO role at mag­niX, hav­ing led invest­ments in com­pa­nies across diverse sec­tors. 

Mac­don­ald remarked, “I look for­ward to work­ing with the team to bring our indus­try-lead­ing elec­tric pow­er­trains to the mar­ket­place and to accel­er­ate the tran­si­tion to sus­tain­able avi­a­tion. It is an excit­ing time for mag­niX as its ground­break­ing tech­nol­o­gy takes giant leaps toward mak­ing zero emis­sions flight a com­mer­cial real­i­ty.”

The release says, “mag­niX is the only com­pa­ny to have pow­ered ground­break­ing flights by five dif­fer­ent air­craft, includ­ing the maid­en flight of the first all-elec­tric com­muter air­plane, Eviation’s Alice, and the longest and high­est alti­tude flights by a hydro­gen elec­tric plane.”

It con­tin­ues, “in April, mag­niX received a Let­ter of Intent from North America’s largest sea­plane air­line, Har­bour Air, for 50 magni650 engines.”

John Saabas, Chair­man of mag­niX,  com­ment­ed, “We are enter­ing a sig­nif­i­cant new phase in our game-chang­ing technology’s progress toward Entry Into Ser­vice. Reed’s com­mer­cial expe­ri­ence and exper­tise are well-suit­ed to stew­ard us through this chap­ter in our jour­ney to change the his­to­ry of avi­a­tion.”
