U.S: 47G Launches “Pioneering Air Transportation System for Utah”
U.S‑based company, 47G, a global premier ecosystem for aerospace, defence and cyber companies in Utah, has launched a pioneering air transportation system, reports a press release.
In partnership with the Governor’s Office, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), the Utah Inland Port Authority and industry stakeholders, this initiative is known as Project Alta (Air Logistics Transportation Alliance) “with a mission to establish an advanced air mobility (AAM) system for Utah,” explains the release.
At present, various Utah-based companies play an active role in the AAM market.
: Zipline, the drone delivery company, is collaborating with Intermountain Health to deliver medicines to local homes.
: Hexcel supplies carbon fibre to Archer Aviation for the Midnight Aircraft.
: Electric Power Systems provides batteries to various electric aircraft companies.
: Albany Engineered Composites develops structural components for Beta Technologies.
: Intergalactic manufactures thermal management systems for Embraer’s Eve aircraft.

Aaron Starks, President and CEO of 47G, remarked, “Project Alta represents a collaborative, public-private partnership of industry and government stakeholders that seek to put Utah on the map globally as an innovative, future-focused state.”
He continued, “By leveraging our entrepreneurial spirit and cutting-edge technologies, we will attract investment, accelerate the development of critical infrastructure, and enable the deployment of aircraft that make our transportation system truly multimodal.”
Project Alta will oversee four main phases of AAM integration in Utah by 2034 which include expanding existing drone package delivery, instituting reliable cargo transport and moving people.
Paul Damron, UDOT Advanced Air Mobility Manager, commented, “In partnership with 47G, we plan to create a well-functioning transportation system in the air that connects seamlessly with the transportation system on the ground.” Adding, “Imagine a world where you can hop on an air taxi and travel anywhere along the Wasatch Front in 20 minutes.”
Meanwhile, 47G announced recently the hiring of former senior ranking Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) official, Chris Metts, to lead Project Alta.

Chris Metts
Metts has held numerous positions during his 31 years at the FAA, including overseeing national AAM activities nationally. He has authored AAM research studies for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and brings a wealth of experience to Utah.
