Middle East: UrbanV, Cluster2 Sign Agreement “to Boost AAM in Saudi Arabia”
UrbanV, an Italian vertiport network developer and Cluster2, a leading aviation operator in Saudi Arabia and a subsidiary of MATARAT Holdings, are collaborating to boost the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) ecosystem in Cluster2’s Airport network, reports a press release. The partnership aims to prepare the groundwork for commercial eVTOL operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The two companies will initially conduct a comprehensive feasibility study to implement AAM solutions at Cluster2 airports, while ensuring compliance with the regulations of the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including safety standards and environmental sustainability goals.
The collaboration includes UrbanV providing training programs and technical knowledge with relevant parties.
Also, the partners are to launch initial pilot programs targeted at eVTOL services and general applications such as medical emergencies, VIP transport and cargo logistics. “These will act as proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate the operational integration of AAM in real-world conditions,” explains the release.
Carlo Tursi, CEO at UrbanV, commented, “We have the ambition to become a major operator of vertiport networks and to become global pioneers in establishing some of the first AAM routes worldwide. We are excited to partner with Cluster2 and explore the great potential of introducing advanced air mobility in Saudi Arabia.”
Eng. Ali Masrahi, CEO of the Cluster2 Airports, added, “We seek to have a presence and leadership in AAM solutions by creating an integrated ecosystem including environmental sustainability in all our various airports in the Kingdom.”
The two companies are committed to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and its broader sustainability goals, including the use of zero-emission eVTOL vehicles and environmentally sustainable vertiport designs.
