BETA Collaborates with Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport and Atlantic Aviation “to Put in Place Electric-Charging Infrastructure”
BETA Technologies is partnering with Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport (BAF) and fixed-base operator Atlantic Aviation, to put in place electric-charging infrastructure at the Westfield airport, reports a press release.
The airport is soon to become a key enabler of electric aviation throughout the American northeast and encourage the electrification of ground support equipment and operational vehicles elsewhere.
The release explains, “The BETA-designed charging stations are multimodal and interoperable, capable of powering electric aircraft and ground vehicles alike. The installations include a Level 3 Fast-Charger located inside the fence (airside), primarily for use by electric aircraft, and a Level 2 Charger located outside the fence (carside), primarily for use by public EVs.”
It continues, “With these additions, the airport is well-positioned to support the electric transportation future, which is currently poised to grow the economy and associated job opportunities in the region and more broadly.”
Michael McCabe, Westfield City Mayor, remarked, “One of the keys to growth is embracing new technology and making it a part of your portfolio. BETA systems is an excellent example of this by providing another avenue for aviation. We applaud their inclusion at Barnes Regional Airport.”
Christopher Willenborg, Airport Manager of Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport, added, “This is another positive step forward as Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport prepares for emerging industries such as advanced air mobility aircraft.”

Partnership Members
BETA’s Charge Cube is UL certified and designed to optimise for safety, interoperability, simplicity and efficiency. The charger’s 50 ft. cord is the longest ofany certified charger available, capable of working alongside BETA’s Thermal Management System (TMS), to offer increased optionality for a variety of aircraft designs and ground operation needs.
Nate Ward, BETA’s Head of Network Development, commented,“To make a real impact requires like-minded partners that are willing to lean into innovation with you.
And Eric Newman, VP of Sustainability at Atlantic Aviation, said, ”The addition of the BETA Charge Cube at our Westfield-Barnes facility provides a safe, customer-centric location for electric aircraft operations while enabling new, community-focused transportation opportunities.”
This new charge site in Westfield is part of a growing national network of electric infrastructure that BETA is building out across the U.S. To date, BETA has brought chargers online at 38 site locations from Vermont to Florida to Arkansas with more than 50 additional sites in development or permitting for public and private use by commercial, military and medical entities. These sites have been installed in partnership with airports, FBOs and OEM partners across the country, to bring electric aviation to both metropolitan areas, as well as rural and hard-to-reach communities with limited access to air transportation.
