“Skyportz Welcomes Release of Australia’s Air Taxi Roadmap”
Skyportz, an Australian leading vertiport developer, welcomes the release this week of a regulatory roadmap update for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in Australia by safety regulator, CASA.
The Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Strategic Regulatory Roadmap is part of the Emerging Technologies Program in Australia.
The release explains, “This program focuses on safely and efficiently integrating emerging aviation technologies and systems into Australia’s airspace and civil regulatory framework. The Roadmap explains the plan for regulating RPAS and AAM over the next 10 to 15 years.”
And continues, “It sets out Australia’s strategy and planning to safely integrate these technologies into Australia’s airspace and future regulatory system, alongside traditional aviation.”

Clem Newton-Brown, CEO of Skyportz, enthused, “This is really exciting news for Australia. This policy confirmation by CASA provides a green light for the property development industry to start planning for this revolution in the way we move people and goods.”
He continued, “The vertiport infrastructure is the missing piece of the puzzle for this industry. Without new vertiport landing sites in places people want to go, the aircraft will never fulfil their potential”.

Skyportz aims to break the nexus between aviation and airports and enable commercial and industrial property developers to host vertiports. Over 400 property sites have expressed an interest in hosting a vertiport in Australia.
Newton-Brown added, “We envisage that those properties with vertiports will attract higher rents as businesses demand to have drone freight and air taxi services for customers. However, this is an emerging new industry, so we need the support of Government and our safety regulator CASA to help guide development.”
Skyportz has established a fully owned subsidiary, Wilbur Air, which will eventually operate a range of new aircraft from its vertiport network. The company is also developing a vertipad patent that manages air turbulence to improve safety and reduce property footprint requirements.
