AAM Institute Announces “Revival of Pulitzer Trophy Race, Marking 100th Anniversary”
The Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Institute announced recently an agreement with the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) for the revival of the Pulitzer Trophy Race this Autumn, marking the 100th anniversary of the last running in 1925, reports a press release.
The original race series was designed to achieve public acceptance for aviation itself. Now, a century later, the AAM Institute, with the blessing of the NAA, will re-launch the Pulitzer Trophy annual race series in the hopes of similarly achieving public acceptance for Advanced Air Mobility.
Amy Spowart, President and CEO, NAA, enthused, “The National Aeronautic Association is thrilled to see the revival of air racing and highlight the future of aviation. Witnessing history being made and providing the award to celebrate the winner of the competition will energise the next generation of aviation legends.”
The Pulitzer Race Director, retired USAF Colonel Scott Neumann, remarked, ”We have designed the first Pulitzer Electric Aircraft Race in a way to honour the legacy of the original races from a century ago and at the same time to highlight the amazing potential of this new form of air transportation as it emerges. This race bears witness to the beginning of the electric age of flight.”
Dan Sloat, the Institute Founder, added, “We welcome eCTOL, eSTOL, and eVTOL alike. This is a speed race with the opportunity to have your name added to the list of heroic pilots honoured with the legendary Pulitzer Trophy at the National Air & Space Museum in DC.”
