EHang recently announced the launch of its Exhibition (Experience) Centre in Shenzhen’s Luohu Sports and Leisure Park, reports a press release.
“It is the world’s first EH216‑S takeoff and landing site featuring a fully automated vertical-lift vertiport,” explains the release. “And marks a new smart infrastructure in Shenzhen dedicated to the commercial operations of the autonomous EH216‑S aircraft.”
This cutting-edge facility reduces labour costs and optimises space usage via the automated operations. The Centre spans approximately 753 square metres “with a first floor dedicated to a hangar and boarding area, providing passengers with an easy and comfortable experience,” continues the release. “The integrated takeoff and landing pad with the hangar enables rapid charging, thereby streamlining flight operations.”
During last week’s launch ceremony, an EH216‑S aircraft was lifted from the first to the second floor by the platform. It then took off and completed a first flight over the Luohu Urban Air Mobility (UAM) Centre. The demonstration was well received by the watching attendees.
