Watch Video: U.S New Transportation Secretary: “Whether it’s with drones, autonomous vehicles or eVTOLs … We are in a race to beat the rest of the world!”
The swearing-in of the new Republican U.S Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy, this week, has brought optimism and hope for the eVTOL and Drone industry after his positive comments about its future.
At the ceremony Duffy stated, “I think we’re at an amazing time because when you think of the Department of Transportation, you don’t think of innovation. (Yet) we are in one of the most innovative spaces, I think, in government. We are going to usher in a golden age…”
He continued, “Whether it’s with drones or autonomous vehicles or eVTOLs or ‘Ubers in the air,’ another term for them. We are in a race to beat the rest of the world and it is critical to make sure we have rules in place to make America the best home for this innovation.”

Less than a day after the swearing-in ceremony, Duffy had to respond from the FAA Headquarters to the tragic Potomac River Mid-Air Collision. He immediately instructed an investigation to be opened into the cause of the crash and ordered his department to “provide full support to the NTSB and all responding agencies and authorities.”
Talk about a baptism by fire.
