“AAMI Choose NAAMCE and Springfield-Beckley Airport as Host for Pulitzer Electric Aircraft Race”
The Advanced Air Mobility Institute (AAMI) has chosen the National Advanced Air Mobility Centre of Excellence (NAAMCE) at Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport (K‑SGH) as the host city for the 100-year revival of the 1920s speed competition that bore the Pulitzer name, reports a press release. The Pulitzer Electric Aircraft Race is to be hosted this year between October 10th and 13th.
Recreated for the modern era, this historic race will attract today’s electric flight innovations from countries around the world, to celebrate a century of aviation progress, while confirming Ohio as a key hub for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).
Ted Angel, Executive Director of NAAMCE, commented, “We are thrilled to welcome the Pulitzer Electric Aircraft Race to Springfield, Ohio, to celebrate its centenary. We hope the race will inspire aviation enthusiasts of all ages!”
Top contenders, Salinas and Stockton, California, were among the 3 finalists for host city. Both presented strong bids, demonstrating a commitment to promote electric aviation. However, Springfield earned the highest composite score of 96.3 to win.
Dan Sloat, Executive Producer of the Pulitzer Electric Aircraft Race and Founder of the AAM Institute, remarked, “NAAMCE is a world-class facility with a thriving ecosystem of innovation. It will prove to be the perfect inaugural host. The Race is to celebrate the dawn of electric aviation, pay homage to our aviation pioneers, while driving positive public awareness.”
