China: “Wuhan’s Hanyang District Orders 12 AutoFlight eVTOLs For USD21.5 Million”
Chinese eVTOL company, AutoFlight, has secured the sale of 12 aircraft from the Wuhan Hanyang District for a sale price of USD21.5 million, reports AIN.
AutoFlight announced this deposit-backed agreement last week after the Hanyand investment Development Group plans to launch new air services in the city of Wuhan and surrounding region which has a population of 14 million people. The sale is a combination of AutoFlight’s autonomous cargo CarryAll and five seat Prosperity passenger-carrying craft.
According to AutoFlight, its air taxi has a range of up to 136 nautical miles and will be used to operate flight networks connecting eight satellite cities around the greater Wuhan metropolitan area with journeys taking less than 30 minutes. This network will include a vertiport and a new Hanyang high-speed train station and service.
The aircraft will also be employed for tourism sightseeing along the Yangtze river’s northern bank; cargo deliveries; and for an emergency response firefighting practice.

The manufacturer is establishing a regional headquarters in Wuhan to host a low-altitude, full-scene demonstration centre to showcase different applications for eVTOLs. AutoFlight and Hanyang will also develop a Central China hub for aircraft production, testing, sales and delivery. The facility aims to accelerate the region’s leadership in next-generation urban air mobility.
AutoFlight has already achieved securing type and production certificates for the cargo CarryAll (payload of up to 880 lbs) and is preparing to start delivering between 15 and 20 aircraft to customers from March. There are also plans to use it for emergency response, in particular fire-fighting, while it is hoped the piloted V2000 EM passenger-carrying version will be ready for commercial purpose next year.
Many Chinese cities including Hefei, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Taiyuan, Zhuhai, and Wencheng are moving closer to launching eVTOL air services.
