“BETA 916LF Aircraft Completes Stunning 3,064 Nautical Mile Flight Across America”
There are times when a company must tell the world of a remarkable accomplishment and BETA Technologies’ stunning 3,064 nautical mile flight across America is such an example.
Achieved via a series of staggered flights, its production-intent aircraft 916LF took off from the company’s test centre in Plattsburgh, New York, eventually landing on the West Coast at Santa Monica Municipal Airport. The aircraft flew through VFR, IFR, day and night conditions, as granted by the FAA’s Special Airworthiness Certification.
Over the course of the trip, the 916LF flew across 11 states, including New York, Ohio, Indiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California. The craft flew through municipal and state airports, as well as DoD bases, including Creech Air Force Base and Nellis Air Force Base.

Through Snow and Desert Heat
The journey referred to by the company as “The BETA Barnstorm” met all forms of weather from snow and ice to desert heat and took close to a week to complete after various stops for battery recharging.
The two pilots involved, Nate Dubie and Noah Ranallo, piloted the aircraft on a rotating basis. A limited road crew joined for the cross-country trip, providing additional back-up support for any required maintenance and data capture.
BETA’s constant “pushing of the boundaries” follows the aircraft’s first night flight last month.
