Eve Air Mobility, UI Helicopter Collaborate “to Accelerate AAM in South Korea” 

Eve Air Mobil­i­ty and UI Heli­copter, South Korea’s lead­ing heli­copter oper­a­tor and main­te­nance provider, has announced the sign­ing of a Mem­o­ran­dum of Under­stand­ing (MOU) to explore the industry’s ecosys­tem in South Korea, reports a press release. The two com­pa­nies will col­lab­o­rate to intro­duce eVTOL tech­ni­cal, oper­a­tional and ecosys­tem require­ments to the local gov­ern­ment and indus­try in the coun­try.

Johann Bor­dais, CEO of Eve, explained, “Advanced Air Mobil­i­ty (AAM) has the poten­tial to rein­vent glob­al mobil­i­ty, par­tic­u­lar­ly in the dense urban areas that need it most. We’re proud to share Eve’s resources in tech­ni­cal and ecosys­tem devel­op­ment with UI Heli­copter to devel­op a tech­ni­cal­ly rig­or­ous AAM infra­struc­ture.”

Lever­ag­ing Eve’s knowl­edge, UI will har­ness its local exper­tise to ensure col­lab­o­ra­tion and open dia­logue with pol­i­cy lead­ers as the two par­ties devel­op an AAM ecosys­tem that rig­or­ous­ly incor­po­rates tech­ni­cal best prac­tices and reg­u­la­to­ry stan­dards.

Sung­wieh Albert Rim, CEO of UI Heli­copter, remarked, “South Korea has been a pio­neer in lay­ing the ground­work for Urban Air Mobil­i­ty. Estab­lish­ing a sus­tain­able infra­struc­ture for the indus­try to flour­ish is a vital next step.”

Sign­ing of the MOU Agree­ment

The col­lab­o­ra­tion is to begin by using an Urban Air Mobil­i­ty (UAM) mar­ket sur­vey, car­ried out by Eve, to gath­er ini­tial intel­li­gence. Mean­while, the South Kore­an gov­ern­ment has tak­en sig­nif­i­cant steps to advance UAM through var­i­ous ini­tia­tives, includ­ing the K‑UAM Grand Chal­lenge. 

Apart from urban areas like the country’s cap­i­tal, Seoul, there is poten­tial for AAM in rur­al regions of South Korea, serv­ing as an impor­tant means of enhanc­ing con­nec­tiv­i­ty and stim­u­lat­ing local economies.
