“Everdrone Broadens Life-Saving Drone Operations to Mölndal, Sweden”
Drone company, Everdrone, announced last week that it has broadened its life-saving drone operations to Mölndal, marking the sixth active deployment site in Sweden, reports a press release.
Since 2021, Everdrone has been working in collaboration with Västra Götalandsregionen (VGR), the Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre (Sjukvårdens Larmcentral), SOS Alarm and Karolinska Institutet, to deliver automated external defibrillators (AEDs) via autonomous drones to critical medical emergencies.
The release points out, “This initiative has already resulted in approximately 300 successful AED deliveries, significantly reducing response times for out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) and increasing the chances of survival.”

These strategically positioned “Skybases” allow Everdrone’s fleet to provide emergency assistance to a population of over 250,000 people. The service expansion in Mölndal will now reach an additional 60,000 residents across a 100 km sq. service area, covering most of Mölndals municipality.

Unlike Everdrone’s present deployment sites, the Mölndal area is outside of controlled airspace, making it a significant milestone in drone-based emergency response. Operating in uncontrolled airspace presents both challenges and opportunities, as it allows for greater operational flexibility, while also requiring advanced safety systems to ensure seamless integration with other air traffic.
Johnny Hörberg, Head of Everdrone Flight Operations, commented, “Expanding to an area outside controlled airspace is a major step forward. It demonstrates the scalability of our technology and how it can be deployed in diverse environments. This paves the way for broader adoption of life-saving drone services across more regions.”

The New Swedish Area for Everdrone Life-Saving Operations
Everdrone and VGR are at the forefront of integrating drone technology with emergency medical services, making Västra Götalandsregionen a global leader in AED drone delivery. By continually refining the system, every new deployment builds on real-world mission data to maximise efficiency, safety and life-saving potential.
The release concludes, “The expansion is an important step in our mission to reduce preventable deaths through faster, technology-driven emergency response. As we continue to scale, our goal is to make rapid drone-assisted interventions accessible to even more communities in Sweden and beyond.”
