EHang announced this week the first flight of a EH216‑S autonomous eVTOL aircraft in Mexico, reports a press release. This expands EHang’s global presence by bringing its flight footprint to 19 different countries.
The company’s presence not only strengthens Mexico’s role in the global UAM market, but also accelerates the advancement of the global UAM industry.
Mexico provides an ideal environment for the growth of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) solutions with its densely populated cities, vibrant tourism sector and established manufacturing industry.
The release explains, “The flight was successfully completed following the granting of a Special Airworthiness Certificate for the EH216‑S by Mexico’s Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC). The operational authorisation process was rigorous and detailed, including technical document reviews, airworthiness inspections, operations manual approval, crew training and licensing, and compliance with aviation safety and operational standards in Mexico.”
This flight was made possible through the close coordination between Mexico’s AFAC, EHang and local partner Air Mobility who successfully operated the aircraft, laying a solid foundation for future eVTOL commercial operations.
