“A2Z Drone Delivery Begins FAA Airworthiness Review for Longtail AirDock Edition Drone”
A2Z Drone Delivery, a U.S company developing commercial unmanned aerial vehicles, recently announced it has started the process for review of the airworthiness data for its Longtail AirDock Edition commercial drone platform, reports a press release.
The Longtail can operate independently or pair with the company’s networkable A2Z AirDock ecosystem that greatly extends the range of drone services with a dock design that includes automatic charging capability.
The release explains, “A2Z has developed flight test cards and is in the process of collecting the additional flight test data and creating the documentation necessary to support the rigorous airworthiness review process. The company has also engaged aviation consulting groups to offer guidance on FAA UAS regulations, drafting of flight and maintenance manuals, developing checklists and maintenance schedules, conducting necessary noise testing and environmental assessments etc..”
It continues, “The expert team alongside A2Z are currently formulating the Longtail flight and maintenance manuals for FAA review and providing all documentation necessary for Part 135 operators to add it to operating certificates.”
Once achieved, commercial drone operators can integrate the Longtail into their ongoing commercial delivery operations or seek new Part 107 waivers for package delivery as well as operations over people, roads or property.
Aaron Zhang, CEO and co-Founder of A2Z Drone Delivery, commented, “Our Longtail is a capable and mature aircraft design that has been proven safe and reliable through thousands of miles and hours of our own flight testing and is currently in operation with customers around the world.”
He continued, “We are undertaking a rigorous testing schedule in anticipation of completing this review to coincide with the evolving regulations that will govern the future of commercial drone delivery and other unmanned enterprise operations here in the U.S.”

The Longtail offers drone service providers and logistics operators a customisable off-the-shelf, ready-to-fly UAV for last-mile on-demand delivery and other unmanned aerial services. The hexacopter is capable of delivering or retrieving payloads up to 11 lbs via its onboard winch over a distance of 12.4 miles, with its maximum range extended when transporting smaller payloads.
These capabilities make the Longtail ideal for local parcel or food delivery, emergency medical deliveries, ship-to-shore delivery, search and rescue operations, law enforcement support, linear inspection and more.
The Longtail AirDock Edition and all four variants of its companion AirDocks are currently available for order. Customers can take delivery now and receive free upgrades for any revisions necessary following the FAA’s review, or pre-order the aircraft pending completion of the process. By placing a pre-order now, customers can lock in the most favourable pricing and ensure early access to the Longtail.
