Everdrone launches next-generation medical drone for emergency medical transport

Swedish company Everdrone has launched a new medical transport drone, which features increased capacity to carry multiple types of medical equipment.

Mats Sallstrom, Everdrone’s CEO, says the performance of this latest product, known as E3, has been significantly improved compared to previous versions. It measures 90 × 75 × 55 cm, excluding propellers, and weighs 24 kg.

It can carry up to 4.5kg and has the ability to transport defibrillators and other types of medical equipments, such as adrenaline for anaphylatic reactions, antidotes for opioid overdoes and bandages and tourniquets to stop life-threatening bleeding.

The previous generation, E2, was a development platform based on commercial components and capable of carrying a 2 kg payload consisting of a defibrillator.

Sallstrom said: “The new drone is faster, safer, and can carry heavier payloads. This will save lives. Our initial focus was on developing software for drone services, but we realized that there were no commercially available drones that matched the needs of emergency medical care. Therefore, we chose to develop our own.”

Everdrone AB is a leading provider of autonomous drone systems for emergency response and healthcare. Based in Gothenburg, its proprietary technology enables the extremely rapid delivery of life-saving medical equipment, such as automated external defibrillators (AEDs), directly to the scene while also providing real-time video support to emergency dispatchers.

Known for safe, regulatory-compliant operations in urban areas, the company collaborates with public authorities to integrate its systems with existing emergency infrastructure. Everdrone is expanding internationally, with pilot programs and collaborations across Europe.

Sallstrom adds: “Allowing drones to transport emergency medical equipment significantly reduces transport time. On average in Sweden, it takes ten minutes for an ambulance to arrive at an emergency scene.

“While waiting for an ambulance, Everdrone’s new drone can be on site in under three minutes, making it a complement to emergency medical services that saves lives.”
