Horizon Aircraft, ZeroAvia Announce Collaboration “to Explore Hydrogen eVTOL Propulsion”

Cana­da-based Hori­zon Air­craft, a devel­op­er of hybrid eVTOLs and ZeroAvia, a con­struc­ter of hydro­gen-elec­tric pow­er­trains, announced this week plans to col­lab­o­rate on devel­op­ing region­al hydro­gen-elec­tric VTOL air trav­el, reports a press release. 

The com­pa­nies are to coop­er­ate on explor­ing zero-emis­sion, region­al eVTOL pow­er sys­tems with the inten­tion to eval­u­ate ZeroAvia’s ZA600 hydro­gen-elec­tric pow­er­train in the Cavorite X7, Horizon’s fan-in-wing air­craft. The part­ner­ship also aims to accel­er­ate research in to the nec­es­sary infra­struc­ture and cer­ti­fi­ca­tion guide­lines to unlock a zero-emis­sion path­way for Hori­zon.

Bran­don Robin­son, CEO and co-Founder of Hori­zon, com­ment­ed, “We have been impressed with ZeroAvia’s recent flight demon­stra­tions of hydro­gen-elec­tric propul­sion sys­tems and the company’s trac­tion with reg­u­la­tors. Explo­ration of hydro­gen solu­tions for region­al air mobil­i­ty mar­ket could devel­op into a viable solu­tion to deliv­er clean, fast and high­ly effi­cient air trav­el.”

Val Mif­takhov, Founder and CEO of ZeroAvia, added, “More and more eVTOL com­pa­nies are look­ing to hydro­gen-elec­tric propul­sion as the break­through that can extend range poten­tial and dura­bil­i­ty.”
