“Joby to Perform Demonstration Flights at Osaka Expo, Joint Partnership with ANA Holdings”
Joby Aviation recently announced it is to perform demonstration flights at the Osaka Expo and is forming a joint venture with ANA Holdings to deploy more than 100 Joby Aircraft within an air taxi ecosystem around Japan, reports a press release. This will be a significant expansion of the two companies present partnership.
Beginning in Tokyo, ANA and Joby are targeting a phased rollout in the coming years. The collaboration intends to accelerate the bold, shared vision of the two companies, to transform urban mobility in the region.
Koji Shibata, President and CEO of ANA Holdings, commented, “This is a pivotal step forward for both companies. Air taxi service will directly contribute to addressing Japan’s urban transportation difficulties, ultimately enhancing regional exchange and providing a new, efficient means of travel.”
He continued, “Demonstration flights at the Expo are the first step in addressing that challenge. Alongside our partners, we are dedicated to building this future while adhering to the highest safety standards developed by the ANA Group.”

The OSAKAKO Vertiport where Joby’s aircraft will be showcased during October
The two parties plan to create a network of vertiports, pilot training programs and aircraft maintenance support, by further strengthening collaboration with national and local governments, as well as private sector companies. One such partner is Toyota Motor Corporation, a key collaborator and investor in Joby.
Joby is to showcase its eVTOL aircraft, featuring a special ANA livery, from October 1st to 13th. These flights are to follow on from SkyDrive who are presently demonstrating its SD-05 electric air taxi. Joby operations will include vertical takeoffs, full transition to wing-borne flight and landings.
