Middle East: “FlyNow to Exhibit eCopter in Riyadh”
FlyNow Aviation under its subsidiary, FlyNow Arabia, is to showcase its eCopter eVTOL at the September Saudi Drone Exhibition in Riyadh, reports a press release.
This follows a series of successful untethered flight tests of the company’s aircraft: A modular, fully electric eVTOL, designed for personal and cargo transportation, as well as firefighting and medevac missions.
Austria-based FlyNow established its subsidiary last year in Riyadh, “as part of a long-term strategy to serve the Middle Eastern market,” explains the release. “The company will set up a production facility in the Kingdom, with future Saudi-made eCopters serving both domestic and international markets.”
Later this year, aligning with the Kingdom’s vision for sustainable, high-tech mobility solutions, FlyNow is to conduct sandbox flights in Saudi Arabia as part of a joint pilot project with local and international participants, aimed at developing and demonstrating the safe integration of eVTOL operations in low-altitude airspace.
FlyNow’s full-scale eCopter prototype will be on display at the Exhibition (September 1st-3rd), offering attendees a close-up look at the craft’s modular and functional design. The public will be able to also sit inside the craft and explore the interior layout, designed for one passenger.
Constructed from the same lightweight carbon fibre materials used in the final aircraft, the prototype reflects FlyNow’s focus on safety, simplicity and cost-efficiency.
The release continues, “The FlyNow booth will also feature an interactive virtual reality simulation, developed in collaboration with FalconViz, a Saudi-based leader in UAV-powered asset digitisation and 3D mapping.”
It continues, “Using a VR headset, attendees can discover what it feels like to fly in the eCopter while gaining a realistic impression of the cabin, flight behaviour and overall passenger experience.”

Yvonne Winter, CEO of FlyNow Arabia and President of Sky Alliance for Automated Air Mobility (SALAAM.earth), will join in a panel discussion on the exhibition main stage (September 2nd), sharing insights about the future of urban air mobility and the steps needed to integrate eVTOL technology in to the region’s transportation ecosystem. The discussion is entitled ‘How to Unlock the Potential of the Low Altitude Economy for the Kingdom.’ The Panel Moderator is Dr. James Morgan.
Meanwhile, FlyNow is setting up an assembly plant in the Kingdom during 2027, with a commercial launch planned at the Riyadh Expo in 2030.
