PAS 2025: “magniX Launches Next Generation Samson Battery with 400 Wh/kg Cell”
U.S‑based magniX, a developer of powertrains and batteries for electric transportation, unveiled at the Paris Airshow this week, its next generation Samson battery, powered by a new industry-leading 400 Wh/kg cell, reports a press release.
The higher energy density will expand the scope of missions for electric aircraft and widen non-aerospace applications for magniX batteries.
The company launched its Samson battery range a year ago with the Samson300. These batteries have been developed with the benefit of magniX’s long experience in electric flight and offer unrivalled energy density and cycle life as well as patented safety features.
The release explains, “Designed for ease of integration, they are ideally suited for use in electric airplanes, helicopters and eVTOLs, as well as high-end applications in defence, industry, energy storage and marine.”
The Samson300 is on display at the Paris Air Show, where magniX is exhibiting its full electric powertrain for aircraft for the first time, alongside a model of its groundbreaking high speed HeliStorm engine for electric helicopters.
Reed Macdonald, CEO of magniX, commented, “This significant breakthrough in energy density will extend the range and payload of electric aircraft, further enhancing the strong commercial case for electric flight, while also widening the use cases for our battery technology.”
He continued, “With our fully-integrated electric powertrains for aircraft, our new HeliStorm engine for electric helicopters, and continuing rapid improvements in our Samson battery product, magniX remains the industry leader in cutting-edge electric technology.”
