Vertical Flight Society workshop to address key points surrounding eVTOL landing infrastructure

A three-day workshop organised by the Vertical Flight Society, which will plot out a plan of action to advance eVTOL aircraft landing infrastructure, is starting from tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10am EDT.

This is the fourth event of its kind — after the first workshop in 2019 — and will be held virtually from March 2nd to 4th. It will provide an open forum to stakeholders and interested parties from industry and applicable government and regulatory bodies to discuss policy requirements as they relate to urban air mobility technology and infrastructure.

The workshop is in collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and state, regional and local US governments, and will also include updates from the FAA Tech Center and presentations from key players from the industry and facilitated discussions to set the roadmap.

Topics including Infrastructure Policy Challenges, State and Municipality Strategic Considerations and Advancing Technology Through Policy will be discussed by industry experts from companies such as 5‑Alpha, the Community Air Mobility Initiative (CAMI), Deloitte, P3 Tech Consulting and NEXA Advisors. Other companies featured during the three days include Bell, Eve Urban Air Mobility, HMMH, Hyundai, NASA, PS&S and Wisk.

Vertical Flight Society has also set the following deliverables from the event, which are as follows:

  • Build upon existing safety data to identify pre-competitive areas where proactive industry collaboration would be valuable in accelerating adoption
  • Identify collaborative opportunities between industry and government agencies that will benefit the UAM industry
  • Draft consensus-based strategies to advance policy at key Federal, State and Local levels

Registration for this workshop costs $100 for federal, state, local US government employees and speakers, $200 for current Vertical Flight Society members and $300 for non-members. The price for non-members includes a one-year membership.
