Watch Video: “SkyDrive Lengthy Now Complete Osaka Demonstrations Major Success”
SkyDrive recently announced the completion of its eVTOL demonstration flights at the Osaka EXPO, reports a press release.
Flights took place between July 31st to August 24th and September 14th to 23rd. The first series took off from the “Mobility Experience” section of the Expo 2025 venue in Osaka. The second, beginning after an opening ceremony, were held at the nearby Osakako Vertiport, developed exclusively for eVTOL aircraft by Osaka Metro Co, the operator of the City’s subway network.
The release explains, “As the Vertiport is located in an urban area, in close proximity to residences, stores, and entertainment facilities, this second series of flights marked a significant step forward in the public acceptance of eVTOLs.”
The public flights at the Osakako Vertiport were preceded by a series of familiarisation flights conducted from September 6th through September 12th. The duration in total of 18 days, “is the most extensive development and testing program ever conducted by an eVTOL company in an urban setting,” continues the release.

Flights were held twice daily at 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM, although inclement weather caused a few cancellations. The demonstrations were watched by “very many members of the public” (the actual number is not known).
The vertiport is now playing host to Joby Aviation who is continuing on the eVTOL demos.
