Watch Video: Volocopter Flies Over Rome Airport, Another eVTOL Milestone

Last week, Volo­copter suc­cess­ful­ly com­plet­ed anoth­er eVTOL mile­stone, by fly­ing the first manned air taxi flight in Italy, reports a press release. The demon­stra­tion used new ver­ti­port infra­struc­ture at Rome’s Fiu­mi­ci­no air­port.

Mar­co Tron­cone, CEO of Aero­por­ti di Roma, com­ment­ed, “The open­ing of the first ver­ti­port in Italy and the first crewed eVTOL flight rep­re­sent a remark­able step towards the acti­va­tion of the first AAM routes between Fiu­mi­ci­no air­port and Rome city cen­tre by the end of 2024.”

Volo­copter are lead­ing the march in the eVTOL indus­try and look set to be ful­ly cer­ti­fied, ready for the Paris Olympic Games in July 2024, where ambi­tious plans lie in wait to fly both ath­letes and the pub­lic across the city to and from the many sport­ing events being held.
