China: “XPENG AEROHT Production Facility Begins, Showcases Land Aircraft Carrier eVTOL First Manned Flight”

This week Chi­na-based eVTOL devel­op­er, XPENG AEROHT, tweet­ed a video show­ing the first manned flight of its Land Air­craft Car­ri­er eVTOL mod­ule.

The com­pa­ny, a sub­sidiary of the car man­u­fac­tur­er XPENG, also announced this week, that its pro­duc­tion facil­i­ty based in Guangzhou has start­ed con­struct­ing AEROHT’s eVTOL mod­ule, “mark­ing the first facil­i­ty glob­al­ly to apply advanced assem­bly line process­es for large-scale fly­ing car pro­duc­tion,” explains a press release.

This cut­ting-edge plant is ded­i­cat­ed to pro­duc­ing the air mod­ule of the Mod­u­lar Fly­ing Car Land Air­craft Car­ri­er, and is designed with a pro­ject­ed annu­al capac­i­ty of 10,000 units.

The release con­tin­ues, “Sit­u­at­ed in the Guangzhou Devel­op­ment Dis­trict and con­struct­ed by Chi­na Con­struc­tion Fourth Engi­neer­ing Bureau, the facil­i­ty spans an ini­tial foot­print of approx­i­mate­ly 180,000 sq. metres and incor­po­rates pri­mar­i­ly four major work­shops:-

: Paint­ing Shop 

: Assem­bly Shop

It adds, “The man­u­fac­tur­ing base will draw on the high-pre­ci­sion demands of the avi­a­tion sec­tor while lever­ag­ing the effi­cien­cy of auto­mo­tive mass pro­duc­tion. This com­bined exper­tise aims to improve qual­i­ty con­sis­ten­cy, reduce pro­duc­tion costs, and sig­nif­i­cant­ly short­en deliv­ery time­lines, fos­ter­ing inte­gra­tion between the new ener­gy vehi­cle (NEV) indus­try and the low-alti­tude econ­o­my.”

The com­pa­ny reports that its mod­u­lar fly­ing car is sched­uled for a glob­al pub­lic flight debut at the Chi­na Inter­na­tion­al Avi­a­tion and Aero­space Exhi­bi­tion in the city of Zhuhai, South­ern Guang­dong Province (Novem­ber 12th-17th). Pre-sales begin in late Decem­ber.
