Crisalion Mobility, Skyrisks Sign MOU to develop eVTOL insurance policies

Crisalion Mobil­i­ty, a Span­ish eVTOL and gen­er­al elec­tric mobil­i­ty com­pa­ny, has signed a Mem­o­ran­dum of Under­stand­ing (MOU) with Advanced Air Mobil­i­ty (AAM) insur­ance spe­cial­ist Skyrisks, first devised at the Dubai Air Show, reports a press release. UK-based Skyrisks is a leader in air­craft insur­ance and risk man­age­ment solu­tions for the fast-grow­ing AAM sec­tor.

The offi­cial sign­ing cer­e­mo­ny was attend­ed by senior exec­u­tives from the two com­pa­nies, includ­ing Crisalion Mobil­i­ty COO, Óscar Lara Rapp, and Skyrisks CEO, Alis­tair Blundy.

The com­pa­nies’ goals under the new agree­ment are to:

: Inves­ti­gate appro­pri­ate frame­works and ways of work­ing between eVTOL OEMs and insur­ance com­pa­nies to ensure effec­tive and effi­cient insur­ance poli­cies can be in place for eVTOL OEMs and oper­a­tors.

: Work togeth­er to assess key para­me­ters for eVTOL insur­a­bil­i­ty.

: Pro­pose method­olo­gies to mea­sure these para­me­ters.

: Eval­u­ate the dri­vers of insur­ance costs and how design deci­sions may affect them.

: Inves­ti­gate appro­pri­ate insur­ance method­olo­gies for eVTOL needs dur­ing design, test­ing, pro­to­typ­ing, cer­ti­fi­ca­tion, and oper­a­tion phas­es.

The col­lab­o­ra­tion allows the part­ners “to share spe­cial­ist insights, iden­ti­fy­ing and mit­i­gat­ing the risks asso­ci­at­ed with eVTOLs. The two part­ners will also exchange key tech­ni­cal data to allow for accu­rate risk assess­ment and to cre­ate poli­cies that respond effec­tive­ly to the needs of all par­ties involved,” explains the release.

Óscar Lara Rapp, com­ment­ed, “This col­lab­o­ra­tion with Skyrisks marks a piv­otal agree­ment, where our ded­i­ca­tion to min­imis­ing oper­at­ing costs while pre­serv­ing qual­i­ty for our cus­tomers, aligns seam­less­ly with their dis­rup­tive insur­ance exper­tise.” He con­tin­ued, “As an eVTOL OEM, we bring to the table our knowl­edge in design and man­u­fac­tur­ing, while Skyrisks brings spe­cialised insur­ance insights.”

Alis­tair Blundy, added, “Issues of insur­ance and risk are at the heart of com­mer­cial suc­cess, which is why we are part­ner­ing in the devel­op­ment of AAM.”
