EHang “Applying for VT-35 eVTOL Certification”
EHang announced last week at the Beijing China Technology and Education in Civil Aviation event that its new VT-35, an improvement on the previous VT-30, an autonomous, two-passenger eVTOL aircraft designed for inter-city transportation, is applying for certification from the CAAC, reports an X tweet. The company was exhibiting its range of EH216 autonomous aircraft.
A statement says, “Certification and Production Progress of EHang’s VT35, a next-generation long-range lift-and-cruise pilotless eVTOL and upgraded version of the VT30, is in the process of applying for China’s Type certification. The CAAC has accepted this application. EHang plans to unveil the VT35 in Q3 of 2025.” The eVTOL has an ability of flying several hundred miles during one flight.
Meanwhile, the passenger-carrying EH216‑S on display at the show has achieved over 66,000 safe flights across 19 countries with no accidents, demonstrating its exceptional safety and commercial potential. The EH216‑F, also exhibited, is designed for high-rise fire rescue missions, offering fast response, high efficiency, and safe remote operation.

During the event, Han Jun, Deputy Administrator of the CAAC, visited the EHang booth and “praised the company’s continued leadership in autonomous aviation, airworthiness certification, and safe operations.”
While EHang’s recent Q1 2025 results of USD3.6 million revenue, a decline from from both the previous Q1 and Q4 of 2024, the company continues to successfully expand. In late March, the CAAC issued China’s first-ever operator certificate for an autonomous passenger-carrying aircraft. The company is also expanding its Yunfu production facility, by doubling the footprint to 48,000 sq.metres, to target 1,000 units in annual output by year-end.
Separately, in February, the company announced a partnership with JAC Motors and Guoxian Holdings to build an advanced eVTOL production facility in Hefei. The new site will focus on automated, standardised and scalable manufacturing to meet growing demand in China’s low-altitude economy.
