Eve Air Mobility Secures $15.8 Million Grant From Brazil’s FINEP To Advance Urban Air Mobility Technologies

Embraer spin-off, Eve Air Mobility, has announced its selection for a grant of up to $15.8 million from FINEP, Brazil’s Funding Authority for Studies and Projects.

The non-repayable funding will support the development of advanced technologies for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and related digital services.

The grant is part of a wider investment effort totaling $33.8 million, which includes Eve’s required financial contribution to the project.

The project was chosen under FINEP’s public call for “Technologies for More Sustainable Aviation,” which focuses on areas such as hybrid-electric and hydrogen propulsion, sustainable fuel testing, advanced energy storage, noise reduction, and autonomous flight systems.

Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve Air Mobility, said the support signals a pivotal moment for both the company and the wider Brazilian aerospace sector.

“Our mission is to reimagine people’s relationship with time, space, and the city by creating safe, sustainable, and efficient air mobility experiences,” he said.

“Leveraging from Embraer’s 55-year legacy and our innovative mindset, this grant will enable us to accelerate the development of advanced digital solutions and technologies that will shape the future of urban air mobility in Brazil and beyond.”

Digital Platforms Take Center Stage in Eve’s Development Strategy

A core component of the project is the continued development of Eve’s digital ecosystem, including its integrated aftermarket services platform, Eve TechCare.

This platform is designed to streamline eVTOL operations by providing comprehensive customer support, technical solutions, MRO services, battery and parts support, and flight operations tools.

It also includes training services to ensure high standards of safety and operational readiness from the outset of commercial deployment.

Luiz Mauad, Vice President of Customer Services at Eve, emphasized the importance of developing digital services alongside the aircraft itself.

“Supporting the future operation of eVTOLs requires a robust digital backbone — this is the foundation for scalable AAM operations,” he said.

“By developing our digital platforms and service solutions in parallel with our aircraft, we empower our customers with an integrated, one-stop-shop experience that ensures operational efficiency, safety, and high availability from day one.”

FINEP’s backing highlights Brazil’s commitment to fostering innovation in advanced air mobility (AAM). Elias Ramos de Souza, President of FINEP, underscored the potential of eVTOLs to redefine mobility.

“This project represents our belief that eVTOLs are a future disruptive trend in the UAM scenario,” he said. “We are very glad to partner with Eve in this endeavor, in a funding that enhances our position of more than BRL 1 billion in support to Embraer and its investees.”

Eve is currently progressing through the testing phase of its eVTOL development. The ongoing evaluations involve a series of prototype tests to assess the aircraft’s performance, flight capabilities, and safety systems, positioning the company to move closer to eventual certification and commercial entry into service.
