Eve and FlyBIS Sign Binding Agreement for Up to 12 eVTOLs in Southern Brazil
Eve Air Mobility and Brazilian operator FlyBIS Aviation have signed a binding agreement covering up to 12 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, advancing plans to introduce electric air mobility services in southern Brazil.
The agreement comprises two firm orders and purchase rights for a further ten aircraft. It builds on a letter of intent signed by the companies in 2022 and identifies destinations in the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul as potential areas for initial operations.
Proposed connections include coastal cities such as Navegantes, Balneário Camboriú and Florianópolis in Santa Catarina, alongside tourism destinations in the mountainous region of Rio Grande do Sul, including Gramado and Bento Gonçalves. The companies have not announced a timetable for launching services or specified the planned routes and operating frequency.
Eve and FlyBIS will continue working on preparations for entry into service, covering network planning, operational readiness, infrastructure and integration with existing transport systems.
Eve continues flight testing of its full-scale eVTOL engineering prototype. The aircraft has completed more than 70 flights since its first flight, including hover and low-speed testing. The programme is now expanding into transition-flight testing, with the aircraft’s rear pusher propulsion system being activated in flight as Eve works towards wing-borne flight.
The agreement adds to Eve’s prospective customer base in Brazil, which the manufacturer considers a key market for its aircraft. FlyBIS chief executive Gustavo Zanettini said the company would work with Eve on the preparations needed to introduce regional and urban services.
