eVTOL Insights Launches May 2026 Digital Magazine, Featuring More Industry Milestones and Breakthroughs
eVTOL Insights has officially launched its May 2026 digital magazine, bringing together the latest developments, milestones and industry analysis from across the global Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and eVTOL ecosystem.
The latest edition reflects an industry continuing its transition from conceptual ambition to operational execution, with significant progress being made in certification, infrastructure deployment, flight testing and commercial partnerships worldwide.
One of the headline stories in the May edition focuses on the world’s first commercial vertiport by Dubai International Airport reaching technical completion.
The four-floor, 3,100 square metre facility is designed to support high-capacity eVTOL operations and can handle up to 170,000 passengers annually alongside 42,000 aircraft movements. The vertiport also includes Joby Aviation’s Global Electric Aviation Charging System (GEACS), marking the first time the ultra-fast charging technology has been installed at a commercial vertiport.
The magazine also reports on Vertical Aerospace completing two historic milestones in its flight test campaign. The company successfully achieved a full two-way piloted transition flight, moving from vertical take-off to wingborne cruise and back to vertical landing in one continuous flight.
Elsewhere in the publication, readers can learn about Joby Aviation’s week-long New York City flight campaign, which included the first-ever point-to-point eVTOL air taxi demonstration flights in the city’s history. Flights connected JFK Airport with Manhattan heliports in under 10 minutes, showcasing the future potential for urban air mobility services in one of the world’s busiest metropolitan regions.
The May issue also features extensive coverage of global certification and flight test progress. Wisk’s second Generation 6 aircraft completed its maiden flight in California, expanding the company’s autonomous flight-testing programme, while Eve Air Mobility announced it had completed 50 successful test flights with its engineering prototype as it moves closer toward certification activity with Brazil’s ANAC regulator.
International developments are also strongly represented throughout the magazine. In Japan, SkyDrive became the country’s first eVTOL developer to receive Approved Design Organization (ADO) certification from the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau, a significant regulatory milestone equivalent to FAA and EASA organisational approvals.
Meanwhile in Europe, French startup Ascendance secured €12.2 million in investment through the France 2030 programme to scale production of its STERNA hybrid-electric propulsion system, while Volocopter unveiled its new VoloXPro ultralight multicopter aimed at flight schools, tourism operators and private users.
The publication also explores the rapidly expanding drone logistics sector. Manna Air Delivery announced a $50 million Series B funding round to accelerate expansion across the United States and Europe after completing more than 250,000 successful deliveries, while AutoFlight successfully transported spring tea across mountainous terrain in China using its autonomous CarryAll cargo eVTOL aircraft.
In addition to editorial coverage, the May edition includes announcements regarding future eVTOL Insights events and initiatives. The company confirmed Phoenix, Arizona, as the host city for its 2027 North America Conference & Awards, while also unveiling plans for two special reports later this year focused on Women in AAM and emerging “Ones to Watch” across the industry.
The digital magazine continues eVTOL Insights’ commitment to delivering independent journalism, market intelligence and in-depth reporting on the technologies, infrastructure and partnerships shaping the future of Advanced Air Mobility.
