Flock and Centrik launch drone industry’s first ‘connected insurance’ integration

Flock has inte­grat­ed its ser­vices with oper­a­tional man­age­ment sys­tem sup­pli­er Cen­trik, as it looks to cre­ate a future where unmanned and autonomous vehi­cles can safe­ly share air­space with exist­ing traf­fic.

Con­nect­ed insur­ance allows insur­ers to use data direct­ly from their cus­tomers to auto­mat­i­cal­ly and invis­i­bly cal­cu­late costs based on actu­al expo­sure to risk.

Using flight logs from sys­tems like Cen­trik and com­bin­ing them with real-time data includ­ing weath­er and build­ing den­si­ty, Flocks’ risk intel­li­gence engine is able to tru­ly under­stand the lev­el of risk asso­ci­at­ed with an indi­vid­ual flight.

Its team then works with a pan­el of glob­al insur­ance part­ners to cre­ate cus­tom drone insur­ance poli­cies pow­ered by this risk intel­li­gence.

Under this agree­ment, com­pa­nies using Cen­trik to plan UAV oper­a­tions and demon­strate CAA, EASA and ICAO com­pli­ance can now secure­ly share data with Flock to auto­mat­i­cal­ly align their insur­ance costs with actu­al expo­sure to risk.

This is the first inte­gra­tion of its kind in the drone indus­try enabling auto­mat­ic and invis­i­ble under­writ­ing using real­time data.
