India: ePlane eVTOL Company First to Gain DOA Approval
Indian-based, ePlane, announced this week it has received the Design Organisation Approval (DOA) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the first eVTOL to achieve this in India, reports timesofindia.com. The DOA is the first step in the certification process, paving the way for the e200 to gain commercial production.
The e200 is a piloted two-seater eVTOL vehicle designed to fly over urban areas with a travel range of 200 kms, making multiple stops on a single charge.
Satyanarayanan Chakravarthy, Founder and CEO of ePlane commented, “Next comes Type Certification, and then we will go through various levels of design reviews, prototyping and flight tests before the production approvals stage.” Adding, “Optimistically speaking, all this can happen by the end of the year.”
The DOA for e200 signifies ePlane’s ability to meet stringent standards set by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
