James Craven joins eVTOL Insights as Head of Business Development (Americas) to boost presence in region ahead of exciting year
eVTOL Insights has now expanded its growing team by appointing James Craven as its new Head of Business Development (Americas), where he will help continue to grow the brand in the region.
With eVTOL Insights’ busy schedule in 2024, James will play a crucial role alongside Doreen Pupillo, eVTOL Insights’ Head of Partnerships, as the pair showcase the various opportunities at events planned throughout the year to more companies.
These include the next ‘Behind Closed Doors’ private networking before the Singapore Airshow on February 19th, eVTOL Insights’ Montreal conference from May 1st to 3rd and another ‘Behind Closed Doors’ event before the Farnborough Airshow on July 21st.
Commenting on his appointment, Jason Pritchard, eVTOL Insights’ Executive Editor, said: “James is no stranger to the Advanced Air Mobility market and is very well known to the industry, so we’re super excited to bring his enthusiasm and many years of sales experience to the team. We’ve got lots of exciting events planned for this year and confident James can help us expand our reach to more companies which want to benefit from industry exposure at our events.”
James was born into aviation on a US Air Force base in Waco, Texas. After graduating from Boston University, James began his career as a charter tour wholesaler, which eventually led to the advertising department at Eastern Airlines headquartered in Miami, Florida.
At the height of US airline deregulation, James pivoted out of aviation and into media sales spending fifteen years with the travel trade publication, Travel Weekly.
During his time at Travel Weekly, James conceived, developed and launched Travel Weekly’s daily e‑newsletter in the mid-1990’s, putting the publication on the leading edge of electronic innovation. He continued to manage Travel Weekly’s online presence until 2001.
After 9/11, James formed the Craven Travel Group serving as a consultant and adjunct executive for such travel industry staples as National Geographic Traveler, Travel Agent Magazine, Miles Media, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and USAI TV Travel Network. James also assisted in the sale of TBEX from founder to current owner BlogWorld, staying on as Sales Director.
In 2010, James joined the start-up Tnooz as Sales Director — Americas, and helped grow Tnooz from a start-up into an ongoing concern. In 2017 James helped launch another digital travel technology news publication, PhocusWire as Director. Business Development.
James lives in Miami, Florida and has traveled through more than 75 countries and 49 US states.
