“Jobs Galore in Rapidly Expanding eVTOL Industry”

A primary sign of a dynamic, vibrant, healthy and expanding industry are the number of new jobs on offer. Sergio Cecutta partner of SMG Consulting and the creator of the AAM Reality Index which evtolinsights.com regularly cites, retweeted a post from its “HR Partner”, AAM HR Solutions yesterday. This company markets itself as the “premier destination for talent acquisition and human resources in the rapidly evolving field of Advanced Air Mobility.”

After carrying out a recent study on eVTOL employment, the company tweeted, “Our recent study examines the current employment landscape of the Advanced Air Mobility industry by analysing the number of job openings at the top 10 OEMs. This analysis sheds light on the growth and opportunities amongst the OEMs, reflecting the dynamic nature of the AAM industry as a whole.”

Therefore, it is of no surprise that Joby Aviation (151 jobs available) leads the way by some margin. The U.S company is followed by Volocopter (96), Beta Technologies (58), Archer (52) and AutoFlight (37). The one pity is that China-based EHang is N/A, given it is the closest to full certification. Please see graph below.

So, as an example, let us take a look at Joby. Here is a link for its present jobs on offer:-

This employment includes everything from Flight Research Development Engineer, Powertrain and Electronics — Test Technician, Defense Associate, Fuel Cell Systems Control Engineer and Recruiting Operations Manager to RF Systems Engineer, CNC Programmer, Government Affairs Manager (Energy), Marketing Manager, Global Supply Analyst and Electronics Manufacturing Intern. So right across the employment forum.

For a young man or woman leaving higher education with just a modicum of interest in aviation, what a fantastic industry to join. Agreed some of the jobs are engineer-based which require a degree of training, but if you can join as an intern or work your way up from the bottom, potentially, you’re made for life. Certainly, this is not a shrinking industry, in fact, quite the opposite.

While research figures should be taken with a pinch of salt, the esteemed McKinsey Research Group released last month a report claiming that by 2030, the eVTOL market will have an estimated 1,000 aircraft and 20,000 flights per day. It could also be generating an estimated annual revenue of USD3 billion from 70,000 daily passengers.

This suggests that over the next seven years, tens of thousands of new jobs could become available within the eVTOL industry, not forgetting the many others from the infrastructure side like vertiports, converted heliports etc..

At present, AAM HR Solutions has few followers on social media. This may well soon change.

(The drone industry is not even included in this employment outlook — an industry with even greater potential and short-term growth)
