MightyFly Achieves 100 Hover Test Flights
Last month, MightyFly and its second generation cargo drone named Cento, achieved over 100 autonomous hover test flights, reports a press release. The trials tested the electrical system, autonomy and flight operation.
Manal Habib, MightyFly’s CEO, commented, “Achieving and surpassing 100 autonomous hover test flights is an important achievement for us and it unlocks the next steps in our flight testing program in preparation for the Proof of Concepts with the B2B customers.”
MightyFly’s Cento, previously referred to as the MF-100, is a hybrid, electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) aircraft with a cargo capacity of 100 lbs, a range of 600 miles and a max speed of 150 mph. The aircraft has received the FAA’s Special Airworthiness Certification (SOC) and Certification of Authorisation (COA) for long-range flights.
Cento was developed to provide same-day, point-to-point shipments for businesses and governments. Its sleek design allows for multiple deliveries in the same flight route and efficient operations. The U.S Defence Department is showing a keen interest in Cento’s development and has awarded a Phase 1 grant from the Department of the Air Force’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR).
