Qatar Latest Middle East Country “to Embrace AAM Revolution”
Last month Qatar announced it will soon embrace the Advanced Air Mobility revolution (AAM) with plans to begin testing electric air taxis and cargo drones in early 2025, reports met.gov.qa.
The country’s Ministry of Transport wrote on its website, “(it) will implement strategies that aim for developing and operating an integrated mobility ecosystem in Qatar.”
The Ministry has applied for all the necessary approvals for the trials to go ahead with the relevant Qatari bodies.

The Ministry continues, “This step will contribute to supporting the performance of Qatar’s transportation sector by introducing the new concept of air mobility, which uses latest global technologies and artificial intelligence, thereby enhancing the public transit system’s integration, coherence, sustainability and eco-friendliness.”
This marks the next move for the Ministry to achieve the environmental goals laid down via its ‘Third Qatar National Development Strategy’ (NDS3).

NDS3 focuses on the benefits from advanced technologies, while achieving sustainable development and economic diversification and thereby, boosting Qatar’s leading global position on the transportation map. This will also help achieve its goals laid down in its manifesto ‘Qatar National Vision 2030’.
It is unclear which eVTOLs will participate in Qatar’s trials. No doubt companies like Joby, Archer and EHang are to be involved alongside, perhaps, Dronamics, Beta Technologies and others.
