XTI Aerospace Signs LOI with AVX “for Design and Development of TriFan 600 Vertical Lift Crossover Aircraft”

XTI Aerospace has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with AVX Aircraft (AVX), to provide development, design and certification services to support the VTOL TriFan 600, reports a press release. This agreement is expected to be signed in the coming weeks.

Under the proposed terms, XTI led by Don Purdy, the Senior VP of Business and Program Development, will provide management, direction and oversight of the TriFan 600 program, while AVX will focus on detailed design, program and subcontract management as well as certification support.

Scott Pomeroy, Chair and CEO of XTI, commented, ”The relationship with AVX provides us with seasoned engineering talent and a company highly experienced in designing and developing vertical lift aircraft technology.”

He continued, “AVX will help us to refine our current design, which we expect to accelerate the TriFan 600 development, while significantly reducing expenses for certain engineering capabilities and services.”

Kendall Goodman, president of AVX, remarked, “The team is delighted to work with XTI on this program and apply our decades of rotorcraft engineering experience.”

The TriFan aims to revolutionise point-to-point air travel by combining the comfort, speed and range of similar size conventional business aircraft with the flexibility, convenience and pinpoint transportation, only achievable with a VTOL aircraft.

Purdy said, “There are numerous use cases for the TriFan 600 within the Part 91 business, Part 135 charter service and Part 121 scheduled service operations, in addition to special mission roles such as medevac and rescue where time is so critical.”

He added, “We look forward to working closely with AVX in the coming months.”
