SMG Consulting’s latest update to its AAM Reality Index features new eVTOL OEMs rankings and order list infographic

SMG Con­sult­ing’s AAM Real­i­ty Index — which ranks eVTOL air­craft devel­op­ers based on their like­li­hood of cer­ti­fy­ing its air­craft, enter­ing ser­vice and pro­duc­ing thou­sands of units each year — has under­gone anoth­er update with new infor­ma­tion.

It was launched back in Decem­ber 2020 and rat­ed 14 com­pa­nies, which includ­ed the likes of EHang, Joby Avi­a­tion, Lil­i­um, Volo­copter and Wisk. The index now fea­tures 20 OEMs, with Archer, Dufour Aero­space, Overair and Electra.aero the lat­est to join.

In this new update, which was released at the end of last week, Joby Avi­a­tion’s new tick­er has been added to reflect the com­pa­ny begin­ning pub­lic trad­ing on the New York Stock Exchange last month.

Addi­tion­al­ly, sev­en rank­ings have been updat­ed. Joby has increased from 7.9 to 8.4 due to its addi­tion­al fund­ing received from the com­ple­tion of its busi­ness merg­er with Rein­vent Tech­nol­o­gy Part­ners.

Pip­istrel’s rat­ing has been raised to 7.2 from 5.5 large­ly due to fund­ing, pro­duc­tion readi­ness; Lil­i­um and Ver­ti­cal Aero­space now have a rat­ing of 6.5 and 6.2 respec­tive­ly because of their tech­nol­o­gy readi­ness, while Elroy Air’s recent Series A fund­ing has seen its rat­ing increase to 5.7. Archer and Sabrew­ing Air­craft Com­pa­ny have seen their rat­ings decrease how­ev­er, to 5.9 and 5.1 respec­tive­ly.

Elroy Air and Joby’s fund­ing news have also been added to the new index, while Dufour Aero­space has an extra use case added to its sec­tion.

As well the index, a new fea­ture includes an info­graph­ic on new orders received by eVTOL OEMs to-date. This includes two eCTOL devel­op­ers, Evi­a­tion and Heart Aero­space.

And final­ly, Overair’s But­ter­fly has been added to the lat­est info­graph­ic.
