SMG Consulting’s latest update to its AAM Reality Index features new eVTOL OEMs rankings and order list infographic
SMG Consulting’s AAM Reality Index — which ranks eVTOL aircraft developers based on their likelihood of certifying its aircraft, entering service and producing thousands of units each year — has undergone another update with new information.
It was launched back in December 2020 and rated 14 companies, which included the likes of EHang, Joby Aviation, Lilium, Volocopter and Wisk. The index now features 20 OEMs, with Archer, Dufour Aerospace, Overair and Electra.aero the latest to join.
In this new update, which was released at the end of last week, Joby Aviation’s new ticker has been added to reflect the company beginning public trading on the New York Stock Exchange last month.
Additionally, seven rankings have been updated. Joby has increased from 7.9 to 8.4 due to its additional funding received from the completion of its business merger with Reinvent Technology Partners.
Pipistrel’s rating has been raised to 7.2 from 5.5 largely due to funding, production readiness; Lilium and Vertical Aerospace now have a rating of 6.5 and 6.2 respectively because of their technology readiness, while Elroy Air’s recent Series A funding has seen its rating increase to 5.7. Archer and Sabrewing Aircraft Company have seen their ratings decrease however, to 5.9 and 5.1 respectively.
Elroy Air and Joby’s funding news have also been added to the new index, while Dufour Aerospace has an extra use case added to its section.
As well the index, a new feature includes an infographic on new orders received by eVTOL OEMs to-date. This includes two eCTOL developers, Eviation and Heart Aerospace.
And finally, Overair’s Butterfly has been added to the latest infographic.
