SoCalGas awards record-breaking grant to HYSKY Society for hydrogen aviation

HYSKY Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing hydrogen aviation, has received a game-changing grant from SoCalGas, the largest natural gas distribution utility in the United States.

The grant, awarded on March 28, 2023, is the largest in HYSKY Society’s history and will support its flagship event, FLYING HY, which is the world’s largest hydrogen aviation event.

“We are extremely grateful to SoCalGas for this generous grant, which will help make FLYING HY an even bigger success,” said Danielle McLean, CEO of HYSKY Society.

“FLYING HY is not just an event, it is a movement. It is a unique opportunity for the hydrogen and aviation communities to come together, share ideas, and showcase the latest in hydrogen aviation technology. We are excited to use this grant to make FLYING HY 2023 the best event yet.”

FLYING HY will take place from 21–23 June 2023, and will bring together experts, researchers, and industry leaders from around the world to discuss the latest advancements in hydrogen aviation.

The event will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and collaboration between both the hydrogen experts and aviation industry. Attendees will also have the opportunity to network and collaborate with other hydrogen and aviation enthusiasts, as well as with HYSKY Society’s team of experts.

The grant from SoCalGas will enable HYSKY Society to expand the scope and reach of FLYING HY 2023, bringing together more thought leaders, industry experts, and technology innovators to accelerate the growth of the hydrogen aviation industry. The grant will also support HYSKY Society’s ongoing work to promote sustainable solutions for the aviation industry and reduce its impact on the environment.

HYSKY Society was founded in 2022 and launched in January 2023. The nonprofit is dedicated to advancing the use of hydrogen in aviation through research, education, and advocacy. Its mission is to promote hydrogen as a sustainable solution for the aviation industry and reduce its impact on the environment.

In January, The Vertical Flight Society spun off of its H2eVTOL Council, formed in May 2020 to promote the development and advancement of hydrogen fuel cell technology in electric aircraft, into its own independent nonprofit organisation, the HYSKY Society.
