Sweden: Everdrone Extends Project of Life-Saving Delivery of Defibrillators For Cardiac Victims
Recently, Sweden-Based Everdrone was given the go-ahead by officials from the region of Västra Götaland to extend its “First on Scene Solutions” to rapidly deliver life-saving Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for cardiac victims, reports a press release. The project is to continue throughout 2023.
This is an important step towards a permanent establishment of using the drones, while gathering insights in collaboration with the largest regional healthcare provider in Sweden.
Since June 2020, the project has been conducting operations, delivering valuable results and making a positive impact on the region’s emergency response efforts.
The release states, “The use of drones to promptly deliver defibrillators has proven to be significantly faster than traditional ambulance first responder assistance. The decision to extend the project is the next step towards integrating drone deliveries of AEDs into the region’s life-saving chain on a permanent basis.”

Magnus Kristiansson, Innovation Platform Manager within Region Västra Götaland, commented, “We can keep adding to our growing knowledge database, by gaining further insights and keep on learning more on how we can use the technology and system for the benefit of the region’s inhabitants.”
The partners are currently exploring ways to expand the drone’s use, such as deploying them to transmit live film of accident sites. Everdrone’s LiveView application has been specially developed to provide emergency services with vital and time-sensitive information for making quick decisions before first responders arrive at the scene.
Mats Sällström, CEO of Everdrone CEO, said, “The possibilities left to explore are numerous. Presently, we’re among the world’s leading companies when it comes to drone technology and regulatory know-how, yet we’re still only getting started. Everdrone will always be in a state of innovation.”
The partnership has gone through a number of phases. Initially, Region Västra Götaland supported the project via a dedicated innovation fund, but since the summer of 2022, financing has come directly from the Region, making the cooperation even stronger.
