UK: Snowdonia Aerospace Centre Unveils “First Permanent Vertiport”

The UK’s first per­ma­nent ver­ti­port was offi­cial­ly unveiled last week in Llanbedr, North Wales, reports a press release. Designed by Bris­tol-based SLiNK-TECH, the launch marked a sig­nif­i­cant mile­stone for the UK drone indus­try.

Snow­do­nia Aero­space Cen­tre (SAC) pur­chased the PORTAL ver­ti­port in Jan­u­ary and com­plet­ed its instal­la­tion at the end of June. The drone hub is auto­mat­ed and offers an inte­grat­ed flight man­age­ment at any loca­tion. PORTAL will be used for test­ing and tri­als at the site. 

To mark the occa­sion, lead­ers from the drone indus­try, as well as pol­i­cy­mak­ers, trav­elled to Llanbedr for a launch par­ty, an event fea­tur­ing demon­stra­tions and dis­cus­sions over two days.
